"I recommend Hellerwork to anyone whose life is being dictated to by restricted movement or pain. Your approach to the body as a whole, the relaxed atmosphere and the feeling I had of always being in control made the sessions something to look forward to."

Alan Roberts - Certified Hellerwork Practitioner

How can we be physically free, skillful and powerful and how can we remain vital throughout our lives? As a teenager these questions led Alan to the study of the martial arts and by eighteen he was serving an apprenticeship in Aikido in Japan. This study was a refining, even redesigning, of how he held and used both his body and his mind. Alan believes we all want to live to our best in our bodies, but the rigors of martial arts study are not necessarily to everyone’s taste.

Returning to New Zealand in his mid twenties, Alan began teaching Aikido but wanted to share the excitement and fulfilment of refining body structure and movement with a wider range of people. Hellerwork Structural Integration, with its combination of structural bodywork and movement education, along with its recognition of the intimate link between body and mind was an ideal vehicle.

Alan graduated as a Certified Hellerwork Practitioner in 1999 and since then has helped a wide variety of people to overcome physical hurdles and live to their full potential. Alan's clients range from teens to octogenarians, from office workers to elite athletes and dancers. What they all have in common is a desire to live with more ease, vitality and excellence.

Alan continues to develop his professional skills and knowledge, being a member of the Hellerwork Association of New Zealand. In 2012 Alan was certified as a trainer in Fascial Fitness, which applies ground-breaking research to the conditioning of the myofascial system for injury prevention and enhanced performance in daily living to professional sports. Between 2011 and 2014 Alan worked as a movement trainer with young actors at Unitec’s School of Performing Arts using tools from Hellerwork Structural Integration to open up new possibilities in movement and expression.

Alan is excited by the possibilities of Hellerwork Structural Integration and is keen to share them with anyone who wants to enjoy more grace and vitality in their life. If you have questions or would like to know more about how Hellerwork Structural can help you reach your goals please feel welcome to contact Alan directly.
